Meet the Zwerk Family
Zwerk & Sons Farm is co-owned by cousins Dave Rupprecht, Jeff Schluckbier and Marty Zwerk. They took over the farm in 2000 from Larry and Mike Zwerk who worked on the farm for many years with other family members. Both Dave and Marty have children, Tyler Rupprecht and Landon Zwerk, who are also involved in the farm and eventually will become the fourth generation to run the farm.
Over the generations, Zwerk & Sons Farm has expanded greatly, especially in the past 15 years. They now farm 7,500 acres of corn, soybeans, sugar beets, wheat and dry beans. Even though Zwerk & Sons Farm has grown into a commercial farming operation they continue to be a family run farm over the years. They currently have 12 full-time employees that help run the farm who they consider to be part of the family and have worked closely with them for many years.
Zwerk & Sons Farm is Michigan Agriculture Environmental Assurance Program (MAEAP) Verified farmstead in cropping systems. They focus on soil and energy conservation in their farming practices. Aside from farming, they are members of Michigan Corn Growers Association.
Check out Zwerk & Sons Farms Facebook page to stay up to date on what’s going on at the farm before the breakfast. They look forward to meeting and teaching visitors at their farm on Aug. 13 during their Breakfast on the Farm event.
